Preventing and treating: Head Lice
1. Look for small shiny grey oval specks cemented to hair, especiallybehind the ears and or back of the neck. These are nits (eggs)
2. Lice are seldom seen, except when combing. Lice are smaller than fleas - smaller than a pin head.
3. If you find nits, see your pharmmacist regarding treatment.
4 Use a recommended lotion or shampoo that kills nits and lice. Read and follow instructions on the label. Lotion should be kept out of children's eyes.
5. After treatment use a fined toothed metal comb to remove all the lice and nits.
6. Divide wet hair into small sections and comb each section upwards from the scalp.
7. All the family should be treated with the lotion aif nits are found or not. Repeat tho treatment in a week if necessary
8. Wash the whole familys brushes and combs and dry them out in the sun.
9.. Change and wash all pillow cases and sheets. Hang them in the sun if possible to dry.
10. Treatment must have been carried out and all nits removed before returning to school
111. Check your childrens hairweekly. Notify your school if you find nits.
12. Brush and comb hair daily and wash it often. If hair is very long keep it tied or plaited.
13 Anyone can catch headlice where many people work and play together. It's no disgrace. |
