Travel
tips for on the Road
Take an interest:
Try
and enjoy everything when you travel. You may see some
fantastic sites and some not so spectacular. Try and make
friends with locals as they often have local knowledge
and can often suggest where to go. You may even make a
friendship of a lifetime.
Take
care not to dismiss the most popular tourist spots because
of the huge crowds. Theres a reason why the people are
there! Try and visit in the early morning or in the evenings
to avoid the busiest crowds of the day. Always check opening
times before you venture out. There is nothing more dissapointing
than arriving at an attraction and finding it shut.
Reducing
the load and useful packing tips
- Roll
your clothes rather than folding them. This means less
creases and more space
- It
is a good idea if you are doing trips of a few days
to leave the bulk of your baggage with the hotel and
take a day pack with essentials
- Exchanging
books with other travellers is a good way of cutting
down on baggage and also gives you an opportunity to
read books you may have not always have chosen.

Keeping
your sanity:
- If
you are travelling with friends try and make sure you get
some time apart to do your own thing. If you don't get this
then you will probably end up killing each other! Not everyone
wants to see that giant concrete chicken you got your heart
set on.
- When
travelling on buses take a book. Even if you are not a great
reader you will probably appreciate a read.
- Try
and make friends with other travellers. They often have wonderful
stories and advice. They may also invite you to join in an
activity you may not have thought of.
- Calling
home, drinking beer, eating chocolate are all great travellers
pick me ups.
