FRESH
TIPS FOR: BANANAS
Bananas
are the world's most popular fruit. Grown in tropical and subtropical
parts of the world. They have an easy to peel skin that covers a
soft white, sweet-tasting flesh. Main varieties include: Lady Finger
and Cavendish.
Preparation/
Usage
Bananas
should be peeled, however if baking on the barbecue, the skin should
be slightly slit. Cooking bananas brings out their natural flavour.
Bananas
can be poached, sautéed, flambead, frittered or used in fruit
salads, sweet omelettes, ice cream and flans. They may be combined
with butter, sugar or alcohol to make desserts. To prevent the discolouration
of the flesh, coat the banana with lemon juice.
